Challenge
Located in downtown Hengyang, the project’s excellent location is also a double edged sword as it is surrounded by formidable competition. Our challenge is to infuse fresh vitality into a mature context, creating an attractive destination while adapting the locals' taste for leisure.
Solution
We decided to challenge the traditional norms of shopping center design by creating a three dimensional circulation, thereby expanding the ways spaces and connections interact with each other - this enabled spaces to take on various characteristics and activities as required, therefore driving pedestrian traffic to different zone and improving the general circulation. The interior is also designed thematically according to the functions and tenants, visitors can feel a strong contrast in different areas.
Result
The diversity of spaces and themes is a reflection of Hengyang people's playfulness. With the thematical design encouraging further interaction and participation - it is the place to see and to be seen.
